Troop 160 Scoutmasters

On March 19th, 2015, Troop 160 Scoutmasters gathered as we transitioned Scoutmaster duties from Gary Katz to John D’Elia.

The ceremony was very moving as the Troop presented Gary with a plaque recognizing his nine years as Scoutmaster and celebrating his mentoring of over 50 Scouts to the rank of Eagle.  The plaque was presented by Senior Patrol Leader and Eagle Scout Jonathon Ross.  The emotion continued as the Troop flag was officially passed from Gary to John D’Elia, to a thunderous standing ovation.

Many former Scoutmasters posed for a picture with new Scoutmaster John D’Elia.  The group represents more than half of the Troop’s 85 year history.

There is a per canoe registration cost of about $50.  Canoes are available for rent.

Additional information will be coming soon or see Mr. Gercken.

Ice Climbing

Connor Tone owns the ice !!

Several Troop 160 Scouts went Ice Climbing at the Delaware Water Gap on February 22nd, 2015.  The weather was cold and the entire region was covered with a new layer of snow, but that didn’t stop the intrepid crew from tackling the ice.  They were guided along the way by a professional guide who helped make sure they knew how to tie-on and belay.  Its a good thing, since a couple climber slipped, and the importance of a good belay person was evident.  This is why we practice safety – so we can have fun without incident.

Many thanks to Mr. Gercken and Mr. Sebring for providing adult leadership at this event
