Susquehanna River Trip. At this point we are planning on making the trip on Saturday and Sunday May 11/12. The back - up date is May 18/19. We will make the decision on which weekend based on weather and river levels once we get closer to the date. On the decided upon weekend, we will meet in Falls at Susquehanna Kayak and Canoe Rentals at 7:30am Saturday morning. They are located on Route 92, close to the Falls River Bridge, on the Exeter Twp. side of the Falls River Bridge (West Falls). (119 Krafty Road, Falls, Pa. 18615). Canoes and kayaks are available or you can bring your own. All safety gear is provided if you are renting a canoe or kayak. Canoes can be rented for $80.00 or kayaks for $40.00. That is the discounted scout rate. For those who are bringing their own canoes or kayak, the guide service will haul your canoe or kayak to the launch site for $12.00 if you need it. Please note that if you are bringing your own gear you need all of your safety gear, life jacket, whistle, etc.
Scouts should bring a bag lunch and food for dinner. We are asking Scouts to plan on cooking a foil pack for dinner. We recommend precooking meat for less experienced Scouts. Scouts should bring 2 Nalgene bottles of water for the trip. Scouts should bring a tent, sleeping bag, and ground cloth. Hammock camping is fine if that’s what you prefer. We will have an extensive demonstration by Mr. Walters at the troop meeting on 5/9 on packing your gear and paddling safety for a canoe trip. Let us know if you have questions.
