September 13, 2014 – Cooking Merit Badge was one area of focus for the September campout at Lackawanna State Park. The weather might have been rainy and cold, but the Scouts had a sizzling time following an orienteering course, swinging on vines, and cooking for the group as part of completing merit badge requirements. Mr. D’Elia, Cooking Counselor, said the the Scouts did a great job and should be complimented on the terrific food.
Each Scout was required to plan a meal or a dessert, make a list of all the ingredients needed and all the equipment needed. On the Thursday before the campout the Scouts went to the market to buy their ingredients, and then prepared the meal over the weekend. It was a lot of work, but well worth the effort.
